Various summaries from the citywide neighborhood action and public safety summit. 

The purpose of the summit is to inform residents of the priorities that were identified during Neighborhood Action Phases I and II.  More than 300 action items were developed during these phases.  Mayor Walling and his staff will outline the plan for implementing the action items and discuss how these items will help guide the deployment of limited city resources.

City of Flint Begins Blue Badge Volunteer Corp Training

Beginning Tuesday, July 13, 2010 the City of Flint will begin Blue Badge Patrol

Volunteer Corps Training. The training sessions are for residents interested in being

a volunteer at one of the city’s police mini-stations; a neighborhood crime watch;

Flint Mayor Dayne Walling and Doug Weiland, Executive Director of the Genesee County Land Bank unveiled the details of new partnership regarding weed abatement.

Under the program the city of Flint has been divided into 21 service areas. Work crews will go through these service areas three times each during the length of the program.  They will perform trash and weed abatement activities that include: trash and weed removal; vacant lot maintenance, including mowing; and boarding and securing homes citywide on a complaint basis. 2010 Flint Weed Abatement Schedule
